  • BMX rocks its Olympic debut

    Rock music blared, cheerleaders bounced and bikers crashed. Everything went according to plan when BMX made its Olympic debut Wednesday, writes Alan Abrahamson. Four U.S. riders advanced, too.



  • Americans advance in BMX

    All four Americans advanced into the BMX semifinals round, but three-time world champion Kyle Bennett dislocated his left shoulder in his third and final heat. Bennett plans to race Thursday.

  • 0-for-Beijing

    Those infamous black masks were intended to keep the four U.S. track cyclists who donned them in Beijing's airport healthy and happy. The plan failed. Jennie Reed got sick, and the Americans went medal-less.



  • British domination

    Britain took seven out of 10 golds at the Laoshan Velodrome, as well as three silvers and two bronzes. Only one British track cyclist did not medal, and he won four stages at last month's Tour de France.

     

     



  • Argentina wins madison

    Argentina's Juan Esteban Curuchet and Walter Fernando Perez have won the gold medal in the men's madison, their nation's first track cycling medal of the Beijing Olympics.



  • British keep on rolling

    Britain won the men's team pursuit gold at the Laoshan Velodrome, knocking nearly two seconds off the world record it set a day earlier. The British have five gold medals in track cycling in Beijing.



  • Sarah Hammer crashes out of Games

    Sarah Hammer crashed out of the Olympic women's cycling points race Monday, falling after two racers clipped wheels in front of her and caused a pileup. Marianne Vos won the gold medal.



  • British invasion
    Bradley Wiggins and Steve Burke went 1-2 in the individual pursuit at the Laoshan velodrome. The British have dominated the track events thus far in Beijing, with Chris Hoy also contributing to the medal haul. WATCH.

  • Friends and countrywomen

    After missing out on the Beijing Games, Arielle Martin decided to return to Chula Vista, Cali. to live and train with Jill Kintner, to help her better prepare for the Olympics. Kintner couldn't be more thankful.



  • Britain wins team sprint gold
    Great Britain beat France for the gold medal in the men's Olympic cycling team sprint on Friday, avenging three straight losses to their top rivals at the world championships. WATCH THE VIDEO.


  • Armstrong victorious

    Kristin Armstrong won the individual time trial, only the second ever American woman to win an Olympic gold in cycling. She destroyed the competition, winning by a 24-second margin.



  • Armstrong wins time trial gold

    Kristin Armstrong of the United States has won the gold medal in the women's time trial, making her just the second American women's cyclist ever to become an Olympic champion.



  • Women's road race
    Contested on a rain-soaked course, the outcome of the women's road race was not decided until the final few meters, when Nicole Cooke powered past Emma Johansson and Tatiana Guderzo.

  • Cooke victorious
    See pictures of Britain's Nicole Cooke winning gold in a final sprint on a slick course for vindication, after finishing fifth in Athens. Cooke is the 2003 and 2006 UCI World Cup champion.
