    The first tennis medal sweep since Great Britain did it in 1908, Russia's trio of Elena Dementieva (Sydney Olympics silver medalist), Dinara Safina and Vera Zvonareva went 1-2-3 in women's singles.

    For the second straight Olympics, China has an Olympics doubles medal. Zheng Jie, 2008 Wimbledon semifinalist, and Yan Zi won the bronze medal after defeating the Ukraine's Bondarenko sisters in straight sets.

    Regardless of how the women's gold medal match plays out, Vera Zvonareva's bronze medal win has clinched a medal sweep for the Russian women, the first of its kind since Great Britain did it in 1908.

    Maybe Roger Federer should try doubles at Grand Slams -- he and Stanislas Wawrinka make a pretty decent team. The Swiss duo won the gold, giving Federer the Olympic medal that has eluded him since 2000.

  • Djokovic bests Blake for bronze

    Novak Djokovic has claimed the bronze medal in singles tennis for Serbia by defeating James Blake of the United States 6-3, 7-6 (4) Saturday.



  • Serena, Venus win in sibling semi

    Venus and Serena Williams have clinched at least a silver medal in doubles with a victory in the Olympic semifinals. The sisters beat another sibling pair, Ukraine's Alona and Kateryna Bondarenko, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.



  • Gold mine: Russians reach final

    Dinara Safina and Elena Dementieva have advanced to the gold medal final. Dementieva beat Vera Zvonareva in straight sets. Less than five minutes later on an adjacent court, Safina closed out a win over China's Li Na.



  • Tennis becomes an Olympic marathon

    Rain, long matches and a busy schedule have forced tennis players to continue their matches well into the night ... and often into the early morning.



  • Finals set: Gonzalez vs. Nadal
    Fernando Gonzalez has an opponent for the men's singles gold medal match: Rafael Nadal. In a three-set semifinal match with Novak Djokovic, Nadal broke serve at 5-4 to win and earn his right to play for Olympic glory.


  • Blake loses shot at gold

    First-time Olympian James Blake has come up one point short in his bid to reach the Olympic finals, losing to Fernando Gonzalez of Chile 4-6, 7-5, 11-9.
