Preston Keene, III, 22 of Cambridge, MD, departed this life on Monday, May 26, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, Md.

He was born August 20, 1985 in Cambridge, Md, son of the Eileen Wainwright and Preston Keene, Jr. Preston was a graduate of Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, Class of 2003, playing basketball and football throughout high school.

Preston was Class President in 2002. His most recent employment was with the City of Cambridge. He was recently sworn in with the U.S. Navy and accepted to prepare to be a member of the elite “Navy Seals.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior over two years ago. He loved the Lord and was a member of Bethel AME Church.

Preston will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was an accomplish young man. He leaves many significant contributions for himself, for his family, his peers, his friends and his community. He was a loving, caring, devoted father, son, brother (raising his younger brother for the past six years) and family members. His peers found him to be active in all challenges, always striving for the best. His friends found his devotion sincere and consistent. Preston mentored others in the community, giving them encouragement to always strive at and to be the best at everything. Preston Keene III as stated by mother, defined the word “Man” with pride and dignity.

Preston was a loving and devoted father to his daughter, Kayla Todd Keene; his mother, Eileen Wainwright Sy; Maissa, whom he had a relationship with that was above special; an adopted son, Tamu Dobbins; a sister, Wanda Keene; three brothers, Marqis Farrow, Ormon & Preston Lamar Keene; grandparents, Preston and Vivian Keene, Cordella Wainwright, Victoria Camper, Julia and Shuster Farrow; aunts, Luvenia Nichols (William), Althea Foster, Floretta Williams, Mary Fitzgerald and Mary Jolley Camper; aunts, Marvel Jolley, TyKeisha Camper, Jacqueline Thompson, Charisse McRae, Belinda, LyTonya, Pam and Sharon Lyons and Veverly Batson; uncles, John Lyons, Tony Singletary, Stephen Camper, Lance & Dwayne Farrow; a special cousin, Lisa Keene; special friends, Ke-Ann Todd and LaKeshia Dobbins and a host of other relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Odessa Lyons and Bertha Keene, an aunt, Rozlynn Lyons and Ada Goines, an adopted son, Tany Jackson “Moo”.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 2, 2008, 1pm at Bethel AME Church 623 Pine Street Cambridge, MD with a viewing Sunday evening 6-8 pm at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
